Charleston, W.Va. – The West Virginia Behavioral Healthcare Providers Association (WVBHPA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Brad Story as its new Chief Executive Officer. He will be succeeding Mark Drennan, who has served as CEO for the past 12 years.

A native of Man, W.Va., Brad Story brings more than 15 years of leadership experience in behavioral health to the WVBHPA, most recently as Director of Business Development at Highland Hospital in Charleston.

“We are thrilled to welcome Brad Story as our new CEO. His background in behavioral healthcare and his demonstrated commitment to the well-being of individuals in our state make him an excellent fit for this role,” said Randy Venable, WVBHPA President.

While Mark Drennan has accepted a new position with the National Youth Advocate Program, Venable says Drennan’s tenure as CEO has been marked by significant contributions to the field of behavioral healthcare in West Virginia and through his leadership, the WVBHPA has achieved notable milestones that will leave a resonating impact on the industry’s landscape.

“We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Mark for his exemplary leadership over the past 12 years. We are confident that Brad will only build upon the success and momentum our association has cultivated,” said Venable.

Story expressed his excitement about the new opportunity, stating, “Throughout my career, I’ve admired the WVBHPA and its members for the tireless work they do to better the lives of the most vulnerable populations in our state. I am honored to be able to lead this association and I look forward to hitting the ground running as the Legislative Session begins next week.”

The West Virginia Behavioral Healthcare Providers Association consists of more than 30 members across all 55 counties, who provide services in areas such as mental health, substance use disorder, intellectual developmental disabilities and children’s services.
